The A-line Gown has a fitted bodice with a full flared skirt, which can be slender or worn with a hooped petticoat. The skirt flares out from a natural or dropped waist. Some A-line Gowns have vertical seams that run from the top of the dress all the way to the bottom, with no seams at the waist line (this is sometimes called a Princess Gown).
A few Calèche A-line Gowns have a Fishtail design, with the gown flaring out to the floor with a small train. Some have an Empire design, with a high waist that sits just below the bust, and two have a Ball Gown design.
The A-line Gown is suitable for most body shapes. It makes the waistline appear smaller by accentuating the bust and hips.
