Why we offer brides the Calèche Couture Salon

The concept of the Calèche Couture Salon arose out of the advice brides have given us through the Calèche Online Launch Competition. On the one hand they told us to keep the site as simple as possible and to make sure that it was easy to navigate. On the other hand they advised us that in order to feel comfortable about buying a Calèche gown online they would need to -

For example, Rebecca wrote: "It would be essential that I could see the back of the dress. I love looking through the collections (ie on the main Calèche site) and the pictures of the front and the bottom of the dresses are fantastic, but it would also be great to see what the gown looks like from the back".

For example, Katrina wrote: "To be comfortable, gowns should be described in as much detail as possible, with photos of all areas. It would also be good to see each gown in a variety of colours, where offered".

For example, Melony wrote: "I have viewed the gowns on your web site and they look absolutely spectacular, but as a customer I would be buying with more confidence if there were more details and information regarding the gown and fabric used, a photo of the back of the gown and a close-up photo of the fabrics or of any fine detailing that may be on the gown."

For example, Nicole wrote: "A comprehensive selection of images of the dress: front, side, back, close-up of major details - maybe fabric examples, beading, fastening. Being unable to see details closely, you might not even know the dress had a specific weave/pattern through the fabric ..... An online trial centre - you load an image of yourself and the program will generate a visual of you in the dress. That would be AWESOME!"

For example, Cassie wrote: "I think the ability to see some of the dress details really close-up would be ideal (eg where there's beading, rouching, lace, the type of materials) as it's often these little details that make or break the wedding dress."

For example, Petrina wrote: "Photos: front, back, side profiles, upclose of detailed fabric. A virtual tour of the dress? Detailed explanation of the fabrics used (inside lining and outside lace etc), a description of the colours available."

The Calèche Couture Salon is our solution to these conflicting demands: it allows us to keep the main site (relatively) simple and easy to navigate and at the same time to provide every bride with all the information and details she desires about the particular gown she is interested in buying through our online boutique.

In the list above we have used the words "every gown" instead of "the gown I am interested in" to drive home the size of the job of implementing these requests.
